Dr. Tahar MELLITI
General manager, Alliance Industrie du Futur
Tahar Melliti was awarded a PhD degree in theoretical physics from the University of Paris 6, and a strategic marketing DESS as well as a business management MBA from the IAE of Paris (Institut d'administration des entreprises also known as Sorbonne Business School). From 1991 to 1996, he was an assistant professor at the University of Paris 6. He then spent a dozen years working in the automotive and industrial sectors (Varta Bosch, Valeo, PSA Peugeot Citroën) holding strategic positions in marketing, business development and innovation management. He is also the co-founder of an e-commerce start-up. Later on, he was a program manager for the Agence de l’Innovation Industrielle (French Industrial Innovation Agency) and for BPI-France (The French national bank for public investment), leading major national programs for energy, environment and transport from 2006 to 2008. In 2009, he was appointed director of the Institut National de l’Energie Solaire (French National Institute of Solar Energy) in Chambéry, a division of the the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). From 2010 to 2012, he was the deputy director of the transport program as well as an energy and environment advisor for the Commissariat Général de l’Investissement (French General Investment Commission). In 2012, he joined the cabinet of the French minister for economy, industry and digital economy. He served two years as an advisor for innovation and new industrial economy. In particular, he was in charge of the departmental policy for innovation, industrial research and the development of new industrial sectors. He was also in charge of the development strategy for the healthcare industry as well as the microelectronic and digital industries. He is now the general manager of the Alliance Industrie du Futur (Alliance for the Future of Industry), a French organization whose objective is to coordinate initiatives and projects to modernize and transform the French industrial sectors by integrating digital and new technologies in their development strategies.
